You can easily pass by this large and impressive stone built fort for it is hard to spot from the road, yet much remains. The banks are steep and intact, the ditch is deep and well constructed and there is also an outer bank. Set amongst pasture, it gazes down a small valley towards Dunmanus Bay.
Lisualinagh means lios na line - fort of the pool.
Bunta fort is in the same townland.
This fort is in a wonderfully secluded position and is in excellent condition. Although the banks are now covered in briars and primroses they are impressively high and well constructed. The entrance was hard to find, there just seemed to be a very small opening to the north. The ditch was full of bluebells when I visited and I suspect it gets water-logged in the winter.
