This little field, encircled by a small stone wall, is a jumble of stone grave markers. It is the site of a cillen - traditonally a place where unbaptised infants were buried. It has recently been restored and is well kept.
This is a wonderfully peaceful site, surrounded by green pastures, encircled in its own drystone walls, with stunning views out across Dunmanus Bay. Nonetheless it is a poignant and sobering reminder of a time when small unbaptised babies were not considered fit to be buried in consecrated land.
